The core issue stemmed from Infura, MetaMask’s default Remote Procedure Call (RPC) provider, which relies heavily on AWS cloud infrastructure. When Infura’s services faltered due to the AWS disruption, MetaMask wallets misreported balances and transaction calls, creating the illusion of lost funds even though assets remained safe on-chain.
